Louvers letting the air flow.

Buildings need to breath and it typically is allowed to via louvers.

Building wall Louvers

Louvers are intended to protected openings in the external envelope of a building while allowing the structure to let air in or out depending on the design. Louvers can enhance a building's architectural look and meet ventilation air movement requirements. Whether a project specifies intake or exhaust, louvers come in a wide variety of blade styles, frame styles and materials that are all dependent on their application. Most louvers are manufactured from extruded aluminum since they brave the elements, however formed steel louvers can be made for applications needing custom gauge metals and stainless steel. The wall louvers can de designed to fit Metal buildings, CMU Wall, and Stucco to name a few. There are a wide range of finish options including galvanized, Kynar, baked enamel and anodizing.

Selecting the right louver is important to the look and functionality required for each project.

Non-drainable louvers

Non-Drainable LouverNon-drainable louvers in either extruded aluminum or formed galvanized steel employ blades without a drainable section and thus should only be used for times when water penetration is of no concern or for exhaust applications. Non-drainable blade louvers can be made in 2”, 4” or 6” frame depths with many different screen options and finish options.

Drainable louvers

Drainable Aluminum Louver

Drainable louvers in either extruded aluminum or formed galvanized steel employ blades with a drainable section, or “hook”, in order to keep water from dripping into the air stream and possibly through the louver into the building. The main application drainable louvers are used for are for intake air penetrations. Drainable blade louvers can be made in 2”, 4” or 6” frame depths with many different screen options and finish options.

Miami-Dade qualified and Florida Product approval louvers

Miami-Dade qualified and Florida Product approval louvers are for use in hurricane prone areas. These louvers have been through a special gamut of testing that re-creates the occurrences of a hurricane such as flying debris impact, large changes in pressure and in some cases high velocity wind driven rain. Miami-Dade qualified and Florida Product approval louvers do not require the same exact testing and thus are not interchangeable products.

Adjustable steel formed louvers

Adjustable Steel LouverAdjustable steel formed louvers are for when applications require the need for non-aluminum constructed operable louvers. Formed louvers can be fabricated in various gauges of galvanized steel as well as stainless steel or other metal types. Adjustable louvers have several options for actuation including electric or pneumatic motors, pull chains and manual hand cranks. Adjustable louvers can be provided with factory mounted actuators and are available in 4” or 6” deep frames.

Adjustable extruded aluminum louversAdjustable Extruded Aluminum Louver

Adjustable extruded aluminum louvers are for applications that require the use of a louver that can also control airflow. Adjustable louvers employ fully operable blades in either drainable or non-drainable types. Adjustable louvers have several options for actuation including electric or pneumatic motors, pull chains and manual hand cranks. Adjustable louvers can be provided with factory mounted actuators and are available in 4” or 6” deep frames.

Combination louver/dampers

Combination Louver DamperCombination louver/dampers use a fixed, stationary blade for the façade of the louver and a completely separate operable back blade to control airflow. Combination louver/dampers can replace the need for using a stationary front louver and a separate motorized damper behind it while maintaining a uniform look for the building’s exterior. Combination louver/dampers can be provided with factory mounted actuators and are available in 4” or 6” deep frames.
